Full closures expected for I-15 in VV
First set of closures to take place Tuesday, Wednesday
VICTORVILLE • Interstate 15 is scheduled to close for roadwork on the La Mesa/Nisqualli Interchange project, according to officials from the San Bernardino Associated Governments.
The northbound I-15 lanes will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday at Bear Valley Road and remain closed until 6 a.m. Wednesday. The southbound lanes of I-15 will close at Palmdale Road on Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. and will reopen on Feb. 27 at 4 a.m.
Tim Watkins, public information officer for SANBAG, said that the closure is needed to remove a temporary support system that holds the concrete of the bridge in place until it is fully cured and weight tested.
Caltrans spokeswoman Joy Sepulveda said that the detour for the northbound lanes will direct traffic off at Bear Valley Road, north on Mariposa Road, and then onto Palmdale Road where motorists can re-enter the freeway. Sepulveda said that southbound closures will direct traffic off at Palmdale Road, south on Amargosa Road, and then onto Bear Valley Road where they can re-enter the freeway.
Although Watkins and Sepulveda do not expect the closure to cause delays, they urged drivers to slow down when driving through construction zones.
