High wind advisory in Barstow Wednesday

Forecast also calls for possible snow, careful commuting

BARSTOW• High winds and possible snow are part of Wednesday’s forecast for the Barstow area, according to the National Weather Service.

Wind gusts as high as 45 miles per hour were expected Tuesday night, while winds of 33 miles per hour are anticipated Wednesday. A high wind advisory remains in effect until noon on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service forecast also called for a 20 percent chance of snow Wednesday morning.

Commuters on Interstate 15 should be cautious.

“Expect snow accumulations even in portions of the upper deserts and foothills of the mountains,” wrote Western U.S. Expert Meteorologist Ken Clark in his AccuWeather blog. “Several of the high sections of I-15 from Victorville to outside of Primm will receive snow and even accumulating snow that can cause icy travel.”

It’s expected to be mostly sunny come Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
