Police: Reports of Dorner in Barstow “unconfirmed, not true”

STAFF WRITER

BARSTOW• Reports that Christopher Dorner, the ex-LAPD officer suspected of multiple murders, was sighted in the Barstow area are “unconfirmed” and “not true,” police said Friday morning.

“We have no confirmation that he was seen anywhere near Barstow,” said Barstow Police Lt. Mike Hunter.

The information police have placing Dorner closest to Barstow is that his truck was found burned out in Big Bear on Thursday, Hunter said.

“As far as we know, he was never seen in Big Bear,” he said.

Barstow CHP spokesman Adam Croxton said he could not confirm or deny reports of Dorner’s sighting due to an executive order and deferred questions to Irvine Police.

Various news outlets reported Friday that Dorner was possibly driving a white Lexus last seen near Barstow.
