Police search for three in armed robbery and kidnapping

BARSTOW • Police are searching for three men involved in an armed robbery and kidnapping of a store clerk Thursday.

According to a police report released Tuesday, police received a call at 3:16 a.m. Thursday from the owner of Downtown Market at 219 East Main Street. The 42-year-old store employee told police he was locking the front doors when a man wearing a mask and gloves put a gun to his head and ordered him back inside the store. The suspect forced him to open the back door where two other suspects were let in. They were also wearing masks.

The report said the attackers stole cash and cigarette cartons before they left.

The employee was not injured, though he was tied up in the bathroom when they left, said Sgt. Andrew Espinoza Sr.

Anyone with information concerning the robbery and kidnapping is asked to call the Barstow Police Department at (760) 256-2211 or Det. Leo Griego at (760) 255-5187. Those who wish to report anonymously can call WE-TIP at (800) 782-7463.
