HDCF gives $4,000 to Apple Valley church
SAN BERNARDINO • The Church of Whosoever, which has built its name around community service, has received a $4,000 donation from the High Desert Community Foundation.
The donation will go toward the churches after-school program, which partners with the Alliance for Education of the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.
According to a press release from the county, the donation will go toward providing meals, supplies and teaching materials for the after-school program at the church. Volunteers from the church collaborate with the staff at Desert Knolls Elementary in the Apple Valley Unified School District to run its after-school program, which has helped more than 100 early education students over the past seven years.
The program focuses on writing and literacy, as well as math skill development for students who are at-risk in grades first to third, states the press release.
Lisa Lawrence, the executive director of HDCF, stated in the press release that she is proud her group is able to support such a worthwhile program that meets the educational needs of students in Apple Valley.
“At the High Desert Community Foundation, we connect donors with causes they care about,” Lawrence said. “This is a beautiful example of bringing people together to benefit our community.”
The Church of Whosoever is at 18628 Seneca Road in Apple Valley.
