Adelanto man stabs, kills mother

ADELANTO • A man stabbed his mother several times killing the 55-year-old woman in their home, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.

Adelanto station deputies were called out to the home in the 11300 Essex Court by Atraybion Harmon, 20, on Thursday afternoon. Harmon stated he came home and found his mother stabbed in the home, authorities said.

Rescue personnel tried to save Barbette Harmon but she died from her injuries.

Homicide Detail investigators found evidence in the home linking Atraybion Harmon to the murder.

“There was strong physical evidence linking him to the crime,” Cindy Beavers, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department, said but could not elaborate on the specific nature of the evidence.
