Facelift coming to local horse racing

VICTORVILLE • It’s the last month of betting on the horses from the 20-year-old satellite wagering facility at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds.

Come Dec. 26, the venue will be moving around the corner to a building roughly a third the size, but with new LCD televisions, high definition broadcasting and a newly remodeled interior.

“We hope to keep everything pretty much the same, just a smaller scale,” said Ken Alstott, general manager of the fairgrounds.

The new satellite wagering center will be behind administration offices in Building 3 where art and photographs are displayed during the fair. Alstott said that display had outgrown its building anyhow, and so now they’ll be able to use the larger site that’s been housing the horse racing.
