Broken water main floods Navajo yards

APPLE VALLEY • It was a rude awakening for several residents on the south side of town, after a broken water main flooded their yards and caused a sinkhole in one homeowner’s driveway.

“Our neighbor woke me up early Sunday to show me all the mud and water on our driveway and front porch,” resident Bob Wank said.

The 8-inch main broke at around 3 a.m. underneath Wank’s driveway, on Navajo Road north of Tussing Ranch Road in Apple Valley.

Wank said the water collapsed his driveway, flowed up to his front door and around both sides of his house, creating a lake in his backyard.
