Did reality show "verdict" play a role in local mom's murder?
Adelanto mom won $5,000 case against son before murder arrest
ADELANTO • A 20-year-old Adelanto man who was arrested Thursday for murdering his mother appeared with her on TV’s Judge Mathis Show earlier this year, the Daily Press has learned.
On the reality show, Barbette Harmon “sued” her son, Atreybion Harmon, for $5,000 — just a portion of the $14,000 charges she alleged he racked up on Internet and telephone porn.
Barbette Harmon, 55, stated Atreybion Harmon, the oldest of three boys, was a bad influence on his younger siblings, according to a clip posted to YouTube.
Mathis found in Barbette Harmon’s favor and ordered her son to pay the $5,000.
Officials from the show had no comment about the Harmons appearance on the show.
Atreybion Harmon was arrested on Thursday for the stabbing death of his mother, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
Anyone who may have information in this case is asked to contact Detective Robert Warrick or Sgt. Doug Hubbard at (909) 387-3589 or call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
