Payne signs with Adams State

Apple Valley graduate Kristen Payne signed a letter of intent on July 18 to play softball at Adams State College for the 2009-10 season.
Payne was a four-year starter for the Sun Devils and earned a spot on Daily Press All-Area team last season. She also played for the SoCal Magic travel ball team.
Her father Houston Payne said the coach told him that Kristen would likely start at third base next season for the Division II Grizzlies — which has won two straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference West Division titles.
Kristen Payne, who also received some interest from Southern Utah, plans to major in broadcasting.
